Dating Tips For Shy Singles

So, you’re shy and don’t know what to do about it. You just can’t bring yourself to meet people or even talk to them. The people you do meet tend to think you’re uninteresting or completely conceited. You spend far too much time daydreaming about the one person that will know you completely and understand why you’re so quiet.

Most writers will start their articles saying, “Just be yourself.” If that worked for you, you wouldn’t be reading this right now. Being yourself has left you miserable and alone with no one to talk to or share your feelings with. Take heart, you’re not doomed.

If you’re the extremely shy, just smile and lower your eyes while turning red type, you’ll have to either buck up and start talking or find an alternative way to meet people. Your options are wide open on the internet.

Find a chat room that you’re comfortable in, and start visiting it regularly. Many people find it easier in this environment because they’re not face to face with the people they’re talking to. More than a few tell people things in chat rooms that they’d never tell someone they met in a bar or restaurant. Open up, and tell people about yourself. As with all things, be careful who you tell about your personal life, but don’t be afraid. After a few weeks or months, you’ll find yourself typing away madly with the people you’ve met there and are comfortable with.

While you’re doing that, start going out more. Don’t just blend into a corner table in the back to avoid people. Sit closer to where the action is. Listen and watch other people. You might even try sitting at the bar and getting in on some of the open conversations going on there. You may not, but listen above all else.

It’s time for you to start dating again. You can try dating throughout this time period, but chances are that you’re just as quiet and shy as ever.

Take your date somewhere that you feel comfortable and not too boring for him/her. Start with little things like compliments. You’re not required to pour out your entire life story, but it would be helpful to tell your date some things about yourself. You might even try telling him/her that you’re shy. For some strange reason, many people find it alluring if someone is shy. They get to feel like they’re bringing you into the real world, and that they’re the ones that you’ll be experiencing these new things with.

Just remember, being shy isn’t the end of the world. Many of those people you’re meeting are shy too. They just show it in different ways. There are even some that will never shut up because of the fear someone will figure they’re out shy.

Have fun. If you’re not, then why are you doing it in the first place? The fear of rejection is predominate in most people. You’re not alone.
